Plaintiff: Bem, a rural farmer

Defendant: Kwasvaôndo, God of the Skies and Clouds

My Lord, The matter before the Court concerns a dispute between Bem, a rural farmer, the plaintiff, and Kwasvaôndo, God of the Skies and Clouds, the defendant. The plaintiff submits that after a prolonged drought, he repeatedly prayed and sacrificed for rain. When Kwasvaôndo finally answered, he sent a storm that destroyed the plaintiff's farm. The plaintiff asks this Honourable Court to compel Kwasvaôndo to grant him a bountiful harvest next season as compensation. Kwasvaôndo denies liability, arguing that the plaintiff's first prayer had already been heard. He contends that the plaintiff's repeated supplications intensified the divine response, resulting in the storm. The defendant therefore asks the Court to dismiss the claim, submitting that if the plaintiff desires a bountiful harvest, the proper supplications must first be made.
